Sending email

Write and send mail, schedule it for a later time, and undo a send within a few seconds.

Start a message from the New message button at the top of the rail, the c key, the K palette, or Reply on any message.

Write and send

Add people in To (and Cc / Bcc when you need them), a subject, and your message, then press Send or . The recipient fields suggest people you've written to before as you type.

Mail goes out over your account's own mail server, and a copy lands in your Sent folder, so it reads the same in every app.

Messages are plain text today. Attachments and formatting are next.

Send later

To hold a message for a better time, press Schedule in the compose bar. A row of times opens above it:

  • Later today and This evening
  • Tomorrow AM and Tomorrow PM
  • This weekend and Next week
  • Pick a time… for any date and time you set

Choose one and the Send button becomes Schedule · your time. Press it to queue the message, or press the caret next to it to change the time. To send right away instead, press Unschedule.

Scheduled mail is sent by Mailhopper's servers, so it goes out on time even if your computer is asleep or the tab is closed. Preset times use your own time zone.

Undo a send

Every send waits a few seconds before it leaves, so you have a moment to catch a mistake. Right after you send, a bar appears with an Undo button — press it (or Z) and the message reopens for editing.

Choose how long the window lasts, or turn it off, under Settings → Inbox → Undo send (off, 5, 10, 20, or 30 seconds).

Manage scheduled messages

Open Scheduled in the rail to see everything waiting to go out. On any message:

ActionWhat it does
EditReopens it in compose so you can change anything.
Send nowSends it immediately instead of waiting.
CancelTakes it out of the queue and reopens it as a draft.

If a scheduled message can't go out at its time (an expired mailbox sign-in, say), Mailhopper keeps it, marks it in Scheduled, and emails you. Nothing is sent by surprise, and nothing is lost.

Send later and Undo send work with both password and Gmail accounts.
